Sandra's Graduation... and a doily

This week's Sassy Studio Designs Flashback Friday image is Sandra's Graduation.  Definitely a must-have in your stash of digis for upcoming college/university grads, spring high school grads and maybe even for that little kindergarten grad to make them feel special [wink].

Additionally, there is a fab challenge going on at Brown Sugar Challenge Blog to "add a doily".  Hop on over there to check it out and consider joining the challenge.

Coloured with Copics.
Cardstock is from Stampin' Up.
Glimmer paper and doily are from my stash.
Stars Embossing Folder is the Lucky Stars TIEF from Stampin' Up and the sentiment and word thinlit are from the Stampin' Up Crazy About You bundle.  The star dies are also from the Stampin' Up Star Framelits set.

Your mission should you choose to accept it...

Is to design a card using the new Reindeer Paper Clips.

My upline, Tracie St. Louis, issued her downline a challenge, "I'll provide you with the Reindeer Paper Clip and you design a card".

Hmmmm, dare I?  Yes I dare.

Now, I had previously made the decision not to order these clips.  I mean... what am I s'posed to do with 'em, just plunk 'em somewhere on a card/project lol?  Well, I think they should've come with a disclaimer "enabler alert" lol.

So... I have a lot on my plate right now but when I have a "deadline", I just like to put my head down and "git 'er done" 'cause you never know when the sky is gonna fall and I "be burning the midnight oil" in a panic-driven rush lol.

So here's what I've come up with.

Product (all Stampin' Up) -
Cardstock: Night of Navy, Whisper White, Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper, Gold Foil
Stamps: Peaceful Wreath, Six Sayings (Hostess)
Ink: Basic Black Archival Ink, Cherry Cobbler, Pear Pizzazz, Mossy Meadow
Other: Reindeer Paper Clips, Sleigh Ride Edgelits, Star Framelits, Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack (star), Confetti Stars Border, Blender Pen, Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details, 1/8" Gold Ribbon

Still on the Mermaid bandwagon lol

I can't believe that once-upon-a-time I once looked at a Mermaid stamp I had won (first time I won anything lol) and thought... what the heck am I going to do with this?

They're popular for a reason.  I've changed my tune.  I love colouring them and the backgrounds.
Beautiful, fluid and so many ways to colour 'em.

I have chosen Cute as a Button's Seaweed Mermaid.  She has been enlarged and printed onto a 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" sheet of Copic X-press It paper.

I also printed the image onto inexpensive copy paper, fussy cut the mermaid and applied a small amount of Tombow repositionable glue (green bottle), let it dry and then had myself a mask that would stay put.

Copics used:
Airbrushed background - BG15, RV11, Y13 and some BG18 in bottom right corner.  I used the Memory Box Large Ringlets die as a "stencil"
Skin - E50-51-11-21; lips - R21-E04
Eyes - B41-14
Hair - E30-31-55-57
All cast shadows are either BV20 or BV23
Legs/tail - BG53-45-49; YG11-13-17; Y11-15-17.  Use just the "light colours" on tail fin (BG53-YG11-Y11).  Legs were based in graduating layers from shadow to highlight side with lightest colours then dots of medium and darkest colours.  Finish with colourless blender "0"
Fish - Y11-17-YR68, E04 "spots"
Greenery - YG11-13-17
Starfish - YR82-14-16-18 touch of E08 (ya... I know it's just a tiny one lol)
Conch Shell - E42-43-44
Hibiscus-type Flowers - R20-22-24-W4
Finish with dots of Colourless Blender "0" around image

Not sure what I'll do with her but I loved colouring her up and experimenting with some colours and airbrushing.

Rah Rah!

I'm still enjoying my time as a Guest Designer with the Sassy Studio Design Team.  Meet Rah Rah Rhonda! from Sassy Studio Designs.  She is the Flashback Friday image this week.

Coloured with copics.  Papers and embellishements all from my stash (which seems to be bottomless lol).  The word die is Tim Holtz Alterations "Celebrate" thinlits by Sizzix.

Visit the Sassy Studio Designs blog to see what everyone else was inspired to create with this cute image.   Can't you just picture this for a thank you card to your daughter's Cheer squad instructor; congrats to a member of the Cheer squad for the win at a competition; congrats for a sports team event; a note of encouragement to a student/friend; birthday... possibilities are endless.  Oh... and what about you scrapbookers?  Wouldn't it look oh-so-awesome on a layout showcasing your daughter's cheer squad?

Dare to be Sassy

Well, this Thursday's challenge on the Sassy Studio Designs blog is to add a banner.  So... maybe a tad out-of-season for mid September, but I've coloured up Polka Dot Bikini Sassy.  She was so cute and I couldn't resist her and of course... a yellow polka-dot bikini [wink].

She might make a great card to give someone going on a cruise or a southern-destination vacation during our colder winter months on the way.  That's my story and I'm stickin' to it lol.

Coloured with Copics. Cardstock and oval framelits are Stampin' Up.  Banner is C.C. Designs, circle die is a Memory Box die called "Large Ringlets" and other embellishments and decorative paper from my stash.

Wednesdays just got better!

With Copic in the Craft Room!  They'll be having an "enter to win" contest on Wednesdays and all you have to do is share your Copic colouring with all of us (probably should be a big sign that will be saying "enabler alert" lol... 'cause I'm weak when it comes to people showing off images I don't have with colours I don't have/use heehee).  How easy is that?

If you're not already following the Copic in the Craft Room page and say "but I'm too afraid to show my work", you can be just "a follower" and there are tons of tips, tricks, techniques and videos every week.  What are you waiting for?!

So run on over to Copic in the Craft Room and follow the page!

FBF Backpack Brandy

I'm still privileged to be a Guest Designer for Sassy Studio Designs!

I took this image literally lol.  Once-in-a-blue-moon I see an image and an actual picture of a possible project pops to mind.  This one worked :-).  The image is Sassy Studio Designs "Backpack Brandy" and is for our Flashback Friday on the blog.

This is a mini backpack that I adapted from a SplitCoastStampers tutorial.  I didn't want to use the templates so just re-jigged until I came up with actual "hard" measurements and cut and scored and assembled.  So much easier then cutting around a template IMHO lol.  Would be a cute little treat box to gift a child (or highschool/college student - they'd want money in it [wink]) on the first day of school.  I've used mini magnets for closures.

Coloured with Copics; cardstock is Stampin' Up.  Magnets, ribbon and eyelets from my stash.

Feminine

The challenge at Fan-tastic Tuesdays is "feminine" this week.  This was an easy one as there are so many gorgeous "Sassys" that'd fit the bill.  I've used Prom Chrissy Sassy from Sassy Studio Designs and kept it CAS.

Coloured with Copics; paper is Stampin' Up; sequins and silver glitter paper from my stash.  I used a q-tip to apply versamark re-inker to the bodice of the dress then Stampin' Up Irridescent Ice embossing powder.

Crafty Shelley

Well... the digi is really called Crafter Shelley but "Crafty" suits lol.

Betty of Simply Betty Digi Stamps designed this one for me.  Just love her quirky caricature style.

I've coloured it up with my copics and adhered the image to a small journal that I can keep track of some of my colour "recipes"... this will be my SimplyB book.  That's IF I can make a "start" and "get it dirty/used" lol.
